Why do so many dogs get hit by a train? Although we don't know for absolute certain we do know that shy lost dogs use train tracks to travel quietly and quickly between locations. Train tracks are usually level and provide the lost dog with an easy walking path where they can avoid humans. Also, wild animals are frequently hit by trains so hungry lost dogs may be attracted to the carcasses to eat.
If your dog is missing make sure you thoroughly check any train tracks in your area. Consider where those tracks lead and flyer the towns along the line in both directions. Contact your local railyard office to give them a flyer and inquire if they have any information about your missing dog.
